The prettiest church. A garden party reception. Mismatched PJs. Buzz the Jack Russell. A DJ in a Landrover. Countryside views. A rogue vicar. A Tiger Moth flypast. Pizza. Dancefloor classics all night. My goodness, Claudia and Cal’s big day was every inch the classic but relaxed countryside wedding, bursting with meaning and fun.
“We would have happily cut into the cake, grabbed a cup of tea, and sat down with Sarah for the afternoon! She’s a dream. We were delighted with our wedding photographs; all the pictures we hoped for plus many more.” Katie & Tom. Katie and Tom planned their day with intention, meaning, and kindness. Family […]
Grantchester may be known to many from the TV series, but to Alice and Jamie it’s personal. The village church of St Andrew and St Mary was the location for their wedding ceremony. It’s utterly charming in its own right. But if you fill it with flowers and love, it’s even more magical. Have a […]
A pre-wedding photoshoot ‘before and after’ A pre-wedding shoot makes me so happy I want to start a happy-dance-off with my camera. But I don’t love them for the shoot itself; though that’s fun. I love them for the ‘before and after’. Not in the know? A pre-wedding photoshoot is a shoot before your wedding […]
A serendipitous date and souls on sleeves “Sarah is a wizard with the camera – she captured stunning shots of our wedding, the venue and, most importantly, the emotion. She was an organised yet calming presence who put everyone at ease on the day. We are SO glad we had her as our wedding photographer.” […]
Take a village meadow with its own ‘wood henge’, add a tipi full of DIY details, bring in a wedding celebrant to lead an outdoor ceremony … and you have the recipe for a truly unique day. No rules, no legal whatnots, no boxes to tick. Just them, their day, their way. Oh, and Worzel and Winnie the Jack Russells too.
It was as much as I could do not to hug Fiona and Will every time I looked at them. They were full of beans to get married, so happy, so in love, and overflowing with excitement to be with their friends and families. It was a sunny day in every sense and I was blessed to capture such a fun, wholesome, and welcoming couple. Check out their photos for ‘brights’ inspo.
Wondering whether it’s possible to call the shots when it comes to your ceremony? It is! A celebrant wedding is just the ticket for couples who want to do things their way. Lucy and Richard took this approach – with a summer casuals dress code for the legal bit in the morning and tails and […]
Between getting ready at a stylish local farmhouse, an elegant church ceremony in full military regalia, informal drinks and canapes on the pretty parterre, and a relaxed marquee dinner dance … Rachael and Adam’s military wedding was traditional and relaxed in equal measure.
The one where a wedding planner gets married… Bethany and Adam’s intention right from the start was an effortlessly relaxed day that was totally them. And it was 100% both. Everything felt so right, everywhere you looked there was a sea of smiles, and the day ran like a scoop of ice cream on sticky […]
Hidden in the countryside, on the brow of a hill where Hampshire meets Surrey, is Cain Manor. The latest addition to my favourite UK wedding venues list! I had the pleasure of capturing Jacqueline and Rutger’s wedding at this medieval masterpiece and I’m hooked on the place. It’s the ideal venue for an elegant but […]
I love weddings, but this one was particularly special. Anna is an amazing wedding florist and after 15 years of working together, she’s become a very good friend. So it was a real honour to not just photograph Anna and Colin’s wedding, but also to be part of their day.
My first wedding of 2022. And what a way to start! Metaphoric and literal magic! If you’re planning a winter wedding, have a read of this post because it’s full of tips on how to make the most of the shorter daylight hours and still get all the photos you want.
Suzanne & Andy chose Stapleford Park, near Melton Mowbray, as their wedding venue. It’s a Grade I listed, late 1600’s house, surrounded by 500 acres of parkland. And it’s one of their favourite places to visit. Read on and you’ll see why!
With Covid leading everyone a merry dance, Kath and Sam decided to ‘marry now, party later’. They grabbed their backpacks, donned their hiking boots, and eloped to the Scottish Highlands. Go them! And when restrictions eased, they made up for lost time and got ‘socially’ married at Uppingham church and The Falcon Hotel in Rutland.
Summer 2020. Nope. Autumn 2020. Nope. When Covid decided to stick around, Sam and Pete had to postpone their wedding to Autumn 2021. But after multiple postponements, a long wait, and lots of heartache, their wedding was EXTRA.
Super Gran, the great outdoors, and the coolest vicar New Lodge Lawns is a fairly new wedding venue in Earls Barton, and this was my first wedding there. It’s perched on top of a hill overlooking the Nene Valley – and has 6 acres of lawns (hence the name!). There’s even a vineyard in the […]
When an interior designer bride unleashes their creative flair on a 1920s-themed winter wedding, you know it’s going to be something! And being one of the first weddings of the post-Covid era, the celebration was as victorious as it was glam. Yep, it definitely felt reminiscent of the 1920s. And if the party atmosphere isn’t […]
All the elegance, a sailcloth marquee & cake for breakfast Brace yourself. This is a cracker of a wedding! Thanks to Covid, it was a long time coming. Steph and Lee had to postpone their wedding for a year. And in the last few weeks, they were still on tenterhooks wondering if restrictions would ease […]
Getting married at Deene Park? Good news: We can do your pre-wedding shoot there too! You can enjoy exploring your venue, while I capture some gorgeous photos. It’s such a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera ready for your wedding day. More photos at Deene – what could be better?!
Planning a wedding at The Hill Farm House in Brigstock? Then you’ll love the tipi wedding featured in this post … There are donkeys, llamas, doves, countryside views, rustic details, pretty flowers, fairy lights … and did I say donkeys? Then add in happy sunflowers, G&Ts around the firepit, and first dance in the apple […]
Yes. You heard that right. Small and cathedral. In the same sentence. And, believe me, those two things aren’t as far apart as you might think. Along with many other couples, Nadine and Nadeem (affectionately known as N&N) were merrily planning their summer 2020 wedding… when an uninvited wedding guest came along. Cue Covid. We […]
Kilworth House is an opulent country house hotel in south Leicestershire, with lashings of period charm and character. I loved it. Then add Sam, Rich, and their very cute dog and it was a brilliant wedding to capture. Even the (very heavy) rain didn’t dampen the day.
Zack and Ruba had a relaxed and chic black-tie wedding at Rushton Hall. I’m loving the current surge of black-tie weddings. Thanks in part to the stunning setting of the Orangery at Rushton Hall which is superbly suited to them. The combination is a modern and glamorous take on a classic country house wedding. Zack […]
People often ask me if I’ve got a favourite wedding that I’ve photographed. That’s a hard one to answer! I couldn’t possibly choose a favourite ;) But I do have a favourite kind of wedding to shoot. And that’s an elegant but relaxed ceremony, followed by an outrageously fun and relaxed garden party. Why? Because […]
Those of you planning a wedding at Rushton Hall, this post is for you! It’s full of gorgeous ideas for a relaxed and glamorous orangery wedding. And you can see everything from getting ready photos in two of their most stunning suites, to a civil ceremony in the Picture Gallery, a drinks reception on the […]
I bet this bag of giant chocolate buttons that you’re hoping it doesn’t rain on your wedding day. I get to keep them, don’t I? Yay! I’ll share them with you though because it was a safe bet. And because I’m right there with you on that one. We can all do without the damp […]
I look back at James and Rachel’s wedding photos with a smile because, to me, it feels like a brilliantly balanced and rounded story of their day. They had it all: meaningful documentary wedding photos, classic group photos, a big photo of everyone, romantic couple portraits, and all the decor and details. The full works. […]
A wedding ceremony at St Peter’s church Pat and Liz got married at St Peter’s church in Weston Favell village. As a child, I often walked past this church to visit my friends and play tennis at the club around the corner. So it was a double dose of nostalgia to return all these years […]
Tom: *walks Kate home from school through the dark winter months* Tom: *takes three months to pluck up the courage to ask Kate out* Kate: “Maybe.” Tom: *three more awkward walks home* Kate finally says: “Yes!” That pretty much sums up Tom and Kate’s characters: kind, laid-back, and playful. And the reason I know? Because […]
Nadine & Rich had their wedding at Notley Abbey in Haddenham. It’s one of my favourite wedding venues. I adore how the old and new balance so effortlessly, and that every nook and cranny is full of character. It’s a dream backdrop! Rich and Nadine had the most beautiful summer’s day. Imagine big blue skies, […]
Kerry and James had an autumn wedding at Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire; with both their ceremony and reception held there. The thing that struck me most when looking back at their photos, is how in love they look and how happy they were to simply be together. It fills me up to be able to […]
Nick and Becka planned an elegant, classic wedding with plenty of tradition and lots of personal touches too. They didn’t plan on torrential rain but it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits! And rain always add an extra layer of story and interest to wedding photos and video. I secretly love it! Rushton Hall is one of […]
A farm wedding in Maidwell, Northamptonshire Hannah & Chippy planned an elegant wedding with everything taking place in the village of Maidwell in Northamptonshire where Hannah grew up. A village wedding is always fun to capture; there’s something quite intimate about it with the Groomsmen walking to church and the villagers popping along to the church […]
Planning a Rutland Hall wedding? This post is for you! Meet Ben and Toria… One of the sweetest couples a wedding photographer could hope to work with. They’re laid-back, completely smitten with each other, full of kindness, and always ready to have fun! Their open and welcoming nature made my job a breeze. Their wedding was […]
Glyn and Candice held their wedding at Dodmoor House in Northamptonshire. Their ceremony (a civil one) has to be one of my favourite ceremonies that I’ve ever photographed. So much so that I’m breaking my usual blogging style to share photos of just their ceremony. It’s a favourite because it was full of heart and had […]
Terry and Alison got married at one of my very favourite country house wedding venues in Northamptonshire, Fawsley Hall. My day started with a few relaxed shots of Terry and his Best Men chilling before getting ready. It was a rather long commute for me; down my garden path and up the one next door! […]
Jill and William got married at St Mary’s church in Weldon, Northamptonshire, and then had their wedding reception at Boughton House. The house rules on photography at Weldon church have previously been very strict. ‘No photos at all’ kind of strict. But that’s all changed since the arrival of a new vicar. So it was […]
Will and Jill’s lives became entwined at university when they started working together at the Student Union bar. It took a while for Will to pluck up the courage to ask Jill out but everyone around them seemed to know they were meant for each other. Their love survived the long distance thing and eight […]
If I could write only one word to tell you about Mike & Anna’s wedding it would be ’emotional’. Emotion is my favourite thing to photograph but it’s rare to see such visible sincere feelings as on this day. Being able to instantly fit in and work in a sensitive way that doesn’t influence how […]
Serena and Dom had a classic wedding at Our Lady of Victories church in Market Harborough, followed by an elegant but relaxed marquee reception at Serena’s childhood home in the village of Old. But before I tell you about that, let me tell you what happened the first time I met Serena… At 11am on […]
